Many immigrants (undocumented and not) will perform many jobs, often skilled trades for less than $10/hour.
These jobs range from computer programming and skilled construction to cleaning landscaping, agriculture, and hospitality. And the quality of the work ranges from OK to pretty damn good.
And very often, the work is wildly profitable and helpful to the employer.
Now, the pay check is often cash and not taxed under-the-table. If taxed, the taxes are almost nill on sub $10/hour work. The social welfare element is also a substantial component. This is the same argument made against subsidizing much of the WalMart labor force.
(Gross pay) – (Minus taxes, if any) + (Social welfare) = (Not too bad!).
A pretty decent hourly rate … all things considered.
We are now firmly in the era of words and symbols. Not surprising since more and people through FaceBook, Twitter, etc. do more talking and less doing. Words speak louder than actions now.

One approach to boosting employment is to de-regulate the employer/employee relationship, and/or relax the Independent Contractor rules.
The employer/employee relationship is a ticking time-bomb for the employer. Employers do all they can to avoid establishing the relationship. Outsourcing, install technology, independent contractors, etc.
Let’s say that Weiner had been an employee at a private company, and he “sexted” another employee. Can you imagine the potential liability for the employer!
