The only solution to pollution is a “smaller life”. And everyone knows it. Most any sort of human behavior is or could be deemed a pollutant. And a smaller life risks economic collapse.
So why go through this intermediate, electrification of everything, step? But in particular why waste hard earned public funds? At a certain fairly early stage of adoption, just electrification of ground transportation will be deemed an environmental disaster and world-ending not to mention the inevitable social injustices and resource wars.
As always, the key question is what is the highest and best use of taxpayer revenue today. Electrification of ground transportation? Trips to the moon?
